– Is the blasphemy of Sanatana-Dharma by the Christians reasonable?

– One who is at heart a follower of Mohammed will certainly find the doctrines of the New Testament to be a forgery created by a fallen angel. A Trinitarian Christian on the other hand will denounce the precepts of Mohammed as those of an ambitious reformer. The simple reason they criticize each other is that they are of a different disposition of mind. Thoughts have different ways.

One trained in the thoughts of the Unitarian Society or of the Vedanta at the Benares School will scarcely find piety in those who beg from door to door in the name of Nityananda, and the followers of Nityananda will find no piety in the Christian.

The Vaishnava does not think the way the Christian thinks about the Vaishnava religion.

It may be that both the Christian and the Vaishnava will utter the same sentiment, but they will never stop fighting with each other, because they have arrived at their common conclusion by different thoughts.

Thus a great deal of unkindness enters into the arguments of pious Christians when they pass their imperfect opinion on the religion of the Vaishnavas. (The Bhagavat: Its Philosophy, Its Ethics & Its Theology)

– How did the philosophy of Trinity spread in India?

– At first, 3 separate gods were concocted in the philosophy of Trinity. Zarathustra is a very ancient philosopher. When his philosophy found no honor in India, Zarathustra preached in Iran. It was by the influence of Zarathustra ideas that Satan, an equally powerful rival to God, made his imaginary appearance first in the religion of the Jews and then in the religion based on the Koran. Then, influenced by Zarathustra’s idea of two Gods, the idea of 3 gods, or a "Trinity" made its appearance in the religion that had come from the Jewish religion.

Later, learned scholars were no longer satisfied with this, so they made a compromise, stating that these 3 concocted gods were God, the Holy Ghost, and Christ. Also in India, because of an anartha, Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Siva were imagined as separate gods by a particular sect of people. However, scholars of Sastras have defined these 3 gods are one in truth, and thus, they have often instructed not to differentiate between them. (Tattva-viveka 1/21)

– Is there any indication that Sri Caitanya’s prediction (that Krsna’s holy names would be glorified all over the world) will soon become successful?

Bhaktivinoda Thakur wrote about one hundred years ago:

– The signs that the unique supreme religious principle, congregational chanting of Lord Hari’s holy names, will soon be preached all over the world are seen everywhere. Christians have started to relish chanting the holy names accompanied by mrdangas and karatalas. Soon they will take Sri Caitanyadeva’s mrdangas and karatalas to countries like England. They will realize that Sri Krsna is the Para Brahman, the greatest of all. The Lord’s holy names are unlimitedly glorious, and simply by the Vaishnavas’ mercy we make spiritual advancement. The Christians will sing, "The two brothers Gaura and Nitai have come. By seeing Them, the eyes become fully satisfied." They will dance, accompanied by mrdangas and karatalas. Moreover, Christians who are striving for liberation are also establishing the supremacy of sankirtana in some way or other. After seeing all these signs, we hope that the time has come for everyone to follow Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s order. Although kirtana has not manifest in other sampradayas in a completely pure state, there is no doubt that within a short time, Sriman Mahaprabhu’s prediction will bear fruit. Nothing becomes pure immediately. In the beginning, kirtana appears with contamination, then gradually becomes completely pure. (Sajjana toshani 4/3)

– In what religion is pure brotherhood possible?

– Singing the transcendental qualities of the Supreme Lord and establishing brotherhood with everyone based on love for God is the pure religious principle. Gradually, when the offensive portions of the established religions are destroyed, there will be no more differences in the bhajana performed by the various sampradayas nor any quarrel between them. Then as brothers, the people of all varnas, castes, and countries will spontaneously chant the holy names of the Supreme Lord together. At that time, no one will hate anyone or consider others dogeaters; nor will anyone be overwhelmed by the pride of high birth. The living entities will not forget the principle of natural brotherhood. (Sajjana toshani 4/3)

  1. Krishna Namburi says:

    1. What are the established religions? My understanding is that krishna never established any organized religion per say. But, Sanatana Dharma was established or existing since time immemorial which is not like an organized religion is my understanding. It is probably more than a religion and probably constitues dharma for all living entities which is true for eternity.
