– By whose inspiration did Sri Bhaktivinoda Thakura compile the book Sri Bhagavatarka-marici-mala?

– I offer my respectful obeisances unto Svarupa Damodara, who was an associate of Gauranga. By his mercy I am compiling this book. (Mangalacarana of Sri Bhagavatarka-marici-mald)

– What was Sri Mahaprabhu’s order regarding the compilation of Sri Bhagavatarka-marici-mala?

– When I was preparing to write this book, Svarupa Damodara appeared in my heart and told me, "By the order of Mahaprabhu, arrange Srimad Bhagavatam slokas in gradual sequence to show sambandha, abhidheya, and prayojana. By the mercy of the Lord, the Vaishnavas will daily read this book, which consists of verses from Srimad Bhagavatam."

Thereafter, Svarupa Damodara explained to me the purport of the verse beginning janmady asya. He also disclosed the process for explaining the meaning in terms of Gaudiya philosophy. By his inspiration, this fallen servant, Bhaktivinoda, wrote this book. Without duplicity I fall down at the feet of both the speakers and the listeners and beg their mercy. (Sri Bhagavatarka-marici-mald conclusion)

– What is the result of relishing Sri Bhagavatarka-marici-mala?

– In conclusion, with great humility the compiler says: "The garland of verses from Srimad Bhagavatam sewn by Bhaktivinoda Thakura, who is always absorbed in ecstatic love for Sri Gaura and Gadadhara, is now complete. Those devotees who blissfully relish this book daily will certainly obtain the mercy of Sri Radha-Madhava. Sri Radha-Madhava have appeared in Sri Navadvipa in Gauda-mandala along with Their abode Vraja, as Sri Gadadhara-Gauranga, and They have performed Their eternal pastimes in a different manner.

"O mind, your duration of life is short and whatever time is left is full of obstacles. Therefore O brother, keep on drinking the nectar of Srimad Bhagavatam with special care." (Sri Bhagavatarka-marici-mala Verses 1-3 conclusion)

Natural Brotherhood (Bhaktivinoda Thakura):

BhaktiVinoda Thakura

"Gradually, when the offensive portions of the established religions are destroyed, there will be no more differences in the bhajana performed by the various Sampradayas nor any quarrel between them.

Then as brothers, the people of all castes and countries will spontaneously chant the Holy Names of the Supreme Lord together.

At that time, no one will hate anyone or consider others dogeaters; nor will anyone be overwhelmed by the pride of high birth.

The living entities will not forget the principle of natural brotherhood."
